We visited the lovely course of Brokenhurst Manor for the Spring Cup this year, although the forecast wasn't great, it didn't rain and the sun came out in the end, although very low and into the eyes on the last few holes. Alan Green produced another solid display to score 37 points, managing to avoid any trouble and plot his way around the course, it looked like there were quite a few new strategically placed bunkers installed on a few holes to give some protection.
Matt Barwell produced a feat not likely to be repeated, having started of solidly on the first few holes and winning nearest the pin on 3 and Longest drive on 6 his luck ran out and the scoring stopped, so having picked up two spot prizes he also picked up the wooden spoon on countback from Paul Baker, actually getting down to the last 6 holes to decide it, well played (on 3 and 6) and unlucky for the rest of the round Matt.
The nearest the pin in two hole at only 300 yards troubled pretty much everyone, up to the last group no-one had managed to hit the green in two! Nor as it happened did Stick who managed to hit his drive pin high 7 yards away from the hole, didn;t get a two unfortunatley but a tap in birdie helped him into 2nd place on the day. Pete Botterill had a very good day scoring 32 points, so along with guest Dave Fox Andy Heyes and Alan Green they won the team competition best 2 out of 4 scores with a massive 89 points.
