The forecast was terrible, heavy rain all day and 50mph wind! Well I think we got away with it, new Captain Jason Laney tee'd off in breezy but dry and a little sunny! We did get a few heavy downpours, and a a brief spell of hail stones, the wind kept up most of the day but by the end the conditions were quite good.
Farnham proved a challenge, not a long course and very little rough but the greens were small and well protected by deep bunkers. There was a tie for overall winner on 37 points between Alan Green and Ed Moloney, but with 19 points on the back nine Alan Green wins his first event! Well done Alan!
It was also good to welcome two new members Chris Marlow (27 points) and Richard David (29 points) to the society, hope they enjoy their time with us, as well as returning members Colin Maby (28 points), Chris Scott (25 points), and Fred Sharrock (26 points). We also had two guests with us Shaun Telfer (28 points) and Alan Drew (31 points) care of Ed Moloney, Shaun and Alan have played with us several times now and always good to see them.
Paul Baker didn't quite enjoy the his time as much, coming back stronger on the back nine but only managing 15 points to take the wooden spoon, apparently there was an air shot during the round (no names Mt Pryce), a back handed shot by Richard Davis (video to follow) and a few broken umbrellas probably!
Colin Maby hit a glorious shot into the 6th hole to about 2 feet on the 6th hole, but unbelievably missed the putt, that also meant there were no two's on anyone's scorecard today!
The day was finished off with ham, egg and chips in the clubhouse and presentation of the prizes from our new Captain
