A bit of light drizzle on and off during the day didn't dampen the spirits for the final event, as 51 stragglers and guests took to the course to see who would win the Don Marks Shield and who would take the Order of Merit 'Claret' jug home.
The greens proved tricky with their speed and if you happened to finish on the wrong side of the hole you were more then likely have a long putt coming back! However one man mastered the course better than the rest, and after 3 times coming runner up he finally broke his duck and won an event, well done Andy White with 40 points! Second came Freddie with a fantastic 39 points, whose handicap now looks like it will be cut next year. Freddie also won the 15+ division, great year Freddie and he celebrated in style on the dance floor in the evening. This now leaves next years Captain, Ed Moloney, as the best played never to have one event (even though he has won the Order of Merit), lets hope he's picked courses he likes next year so he get get his name engraved on one of the trophies.
Special mention should go to this years Captain, Simon Straker, who not only picked some great courses but managed to lose a staggering 50lbs (pretty much 4 stone) during the year and raised a good amount of money in the process.
