REPORT
Probably a first for the Stragglers, an event where the weather hasn't been good! But considering it is Hayling Island, situated right on the coast, the strong winds were guaranteed but the rain and hail wasn't!
In hindsight, the tradition of the Captain driving off first which was switched to the last group due to time issues played perfectly into Mr Birch's hands. The rain had just about stopped when the last group tee'd off (slightly different to the early conditions) and the 2 best scores came from the last group.
The conditions were very tricky, a typical links course it required both skill and luck to make it round the course successfully. Wet from the start and then a heavy hail storm towards the end made things very challenging. A few guys stayed in the clubhouse for the afternoon and by the 18th hole that seemed a very good idea!
Fred Sharrock must have had a good winter, considering the conditions he score 30 points and took the 20+ honors. We also had a new member of the Top Spooners (...click here) James Slape whi previously won an event took the wooden spoon with 17 points, well done Jim.
