CAPTAIN'S DRIVE IN
LITTLEHAMPTON GOLF CLUB
17th July 2020
Defending Champion - Alan Eastwood
Thank you for signing up for the first 'Order of Merit' event of 2020, 'The Captain's Drive-In' at Littlehampton Golf Club this coming Friday 17th July. We have 42 playing altogether, 34 Stragglers and 8 guests. Due to the current situation, government guidelines and the club's interpretation of R&A advice, it won't be quite the same day but I'm sure we'll all make it work.
Tee-times as follows:
Please note the following organisational details for the day:
Meet - between 45-60 minutes before your scheduled tee-time - for tea/coffee and bacon roll - please only congregate with the members of your group.
THROUGHOUT THE DAY, PLEASE SOCIALLY DISTANCE, A MINIMUM OF 1 METRE AWAY FROM EVERYONE AT ALL TIMES.
DO NOT GATHER IN A LARGE GROUP IN ONE PLACE
THE CLUB WILL REMOVE ANYONE FROM THE PROPERTY IF THEY DO NOT FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING RULES.
THERE IS A 1 WAY SYSTEM IN PLACE IN THE CLUBHOUSE. PLEASE ENTER VIA THE BALCONY STAIRS AND THROUGH THE SPIKE BAR. THERE ARE STICKERS AND SIGNS ADVISING.
Toilets will be available but there will be no changing facilities.
Move to the putting green 20 minutes prior to your tee-time - one group only on the putting green at any time.
Move to the tee 10 minutes prior to your tee-time - one group only on the tee at any time.
Tee-times - from 11.30am - playing in four-balls every 10 minutes - as above.
18 holes - stableford competition - full handicap.
Prizes - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 'High Handicapper' (Stragglers only). There will be no NTP, LD or NTP2 competitions.
One scorecard per group - the asterixed person above should keep the official stableford score for everyone in the group and agree the scores at the end of the round. Said person should then take a photo of the scorecard and email it to Stick at: hampshirestragglers@gmail.com.
Please keep up with the pace of play by maintaining the distance with the group in front; please pick up if you can't score on a hole.
Play will be from the white tees; preferred lies (six inches) on the cut fairway and in bunkers (there will be no rakes so please smooth over the sand as best you can with a club or your foot); please do not touch the flagsticks - these must remain in the hole at all times; all putts to be holed out to complete the hole.
After golf, the bar will be open for liquid refreshments. One person per group should order drinks from the bar. These can be consumed inside or outside. Please stay in your groups and aim to stay no longer than 45-60 minutes after completion of your round.
There will be no meal and no formal presentation of prizes. Stick will collate the results and email them out after the day. Prizes will be given out to winners at some stage in the future.
Please pay VERY close attention to all the points above - quite rightly, the club has made it clear that it is very serious when it comes to Covid-19. It is very aware that if it fails to manage things properly it could face being closed down.
As you are aware, the cost of the event is £40. Annual subs for 2020 are also due - these remain at £10. So, £50 to be paid altogether. To date, 20 of you have already paid, some of you because you had credit from the cancelled event at Blackmoor. Please pay online in advance of the day. I will not accept any cash on the day and do not really want to chase any of you for payment after the event! Many thanks.
Any queries to Andy Heyes, Chairman, on hampshirestragglers@gmail.com.
