Details for the fifth event of 2015 on the HSGS calendar, the Don Marks Winter Shield, have now been finalised.

We are delighted to say that we have 49 members and 11 guests confirmed for the golf at the final 'Order of Merit' event of 2015, the 'Don Marks Winter Shield', at RWGC this coming Friday 27 November. Stuart Marks leads the 'Order of Merit' but a number of other guys are hot on his heels - any number of Stragglers can win the claret jug this year!

Final arrangements for the golf are as follows:

• Meet – from 8.45am; tea/coffee and bacon roll on arrival

• Dress code - Society t-shirts and pinkies (if you have them) must be worn by members - or a fine will be incurred!. If you do not own a pair of pinkies, please wear tailored trousers

• Tee-times – from 9.32am to 11.24am - see below

• 18 holes – stableford competition – full handicap

• Prizes - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 'High Handicapper', ‘Longest Drive’ - 10th hole, ‘Nearest the Pin’ - 17th hole, ‘Nearest the Pin (in Two)’ - 18th hole, wooden spoon

• Presentations for the day - at 4pm

The format of the day will be 18 hole stableford, full handicap allowance. This competition will form the fifth leg of the 'Straggler of the Year' Order of Merit 2015.

Please be prepared to part with £5 on arrival for the twos competition and cash prize.

Please note, we will be a large group and there will be club members playing behind us. Therefore, those playing MUST keep up with the group in front and, therefore, keep the pace of play moving well. So, shots should be played without delay and players MUST pick up if they can’t score. Ta very much!

50th Anniversary Gala Dinner Dance

• • Champagne reception and music by Badman's Soul - 6.30pm

  • 2-course carvery dinner - 7.00pm

  • Presentations for the 'Order of Merit', auction and speeches - 9.00pm

  • Disco – 9.30pm

  • Carriages - midnight

Cost: whole day/evening - £50;

tea/coffee and bacon roll, golf and prizes - £35;

meal and evening entertainment - £25

(obviously, the best deal is to partake in the whole day!!!).

We will be looking to raise some money on the day in aid of our captain's charity for the year. Andy would be really grateful if you would all bring a good bottle of wine along as a donation to the wheelbarrow which will be up for grabs in the 'heads and tails' game before dinner. We will also hold a small auction after dinner. If you are able to offer an auction lot, please let Andy know. Ta very much!
