Old Thorns - 25th February 2011
The Society visited Old Thorns for the first event of 2011, we were lucky enough to have a dry day for the golf but a little bit soggy under foot in places!
As it seems is now a HSGS tradition the first event of the year produced another hole in one, to go with Nigel Miller last year, Matt Daly slid it into the cup on the par 3 130yard 4th hole up the hill.
The pink trousers were on show again for those that weren't worried about a bit of mud and know how to use a washing machine (really should hand wash though!). So 33 stragglers hit the course with Codge Greetham, Captain for 2011 teeing off first as usual followed by both some good and bad golf! The Captain even managed to putt into the water on the 5th hole! Other notable performances...
As well as the hole in one, Matt Daly finished with 39 points which was good enough to take top place, followed by Mark Copping on count back from Neil Stubbington both on 38.
This year we are including a Division 2 competition for handicaps 20+, Dave Brown finished top at this event with a very respectable 36 points.
